7 Days of Blogging
This blog challenge arrived about 4 days after I set mine up. I guess it's a January thing.
It was good timing for me because I'm starting a new venture and virtually at Day 1 of starting to connect.
There's been some very practical benefits such as getting my blog built, connected to social media and the machinations of the whole shebang ticking over.
And then there's the unforeseen benefits.
Finding a voice
I guess we have various different voices - technical, chatty, preaching to the converted and formal.
Finding your blog voice is important as it's the way you engage with a new tribe. What sense will people get of you from the way you talk, as well as what you talk about?
I think we can sit and plan this indefinitely, but shut up and start blogging and it will come. It's the Field of Dreams of the connection economy.
Filling in the gaps
New ventures are great. We can fool ourselves we have the next best thing and wave our arms around instead of providing detail. but realistically if we are going to plot a tight critical path to product development the devil IS in the detail. Blogging every day has helped me identify which bits I had previously skated over that actually had to be defined and scoped. The pressure of the production line has precipitated the more detailed ideas out of the hype-ether. So that has been well worth it.
Joining a community that are getting ready to fly
Reading the blogs its clear what passion, apprehension and sense of baring one's soul is around. People have been so gutsy and courageous and taken risks that seem to be very new and raw. It's been incredibly touching to see others take like minded first tentative steps.
Disruption to destruction
3 Years ago we were hearing the word disruption all the time. This industry is being disrupted, and then another, initially as predictions, then as example cases. Now the word is destruction and suddenly cartels and certainties are crashing down all around us. I guess the challenge of today's new venture cohort is to predict how it will look in another 3 years given things are moving so swiftly. after being trapped and stagnant for so long in my own work, the break neck speed of change is both thrilling and terrifying. What will this cohort be blogging about in 3 years. Do you get internet challenge reunions? I hope so!
So it's 2 am and I'm done. I wish all the best to fellow #YourTurnChallenge Blogees and wait with fascination to see if I have the energy or commitment to blog again tomorrow.
Cheers Betta Day
